What Karanite stores in your browser, and what we ask permission for
Karanite uses a small amount of browser storage. Essential storage keeps sign-in, live rooms, and checkout working — it cannot be switched off. Optional analytics storage is self-hosted, consent-gated, and never linked to ads. No third-party analytics, no ad pixels, no retargeting tags.
1. Summary
- Karanite uses a small amount of browser storage to make the service work.
- Some storage is essential, such as sign-in sessions, room state, faction choice, and payment checkout. Some storage is optional, such as analytics. Optional analytics storage is only used when you consent.
- Karanite does not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or Vercel Analytics.
2. What this policy covers
- This Cookie Policy covers: cookies; localStorage; sessionStorage; browser identifiers; consent preference storage; analytics storage; error-monitoring storage; checkout-related storage; and similar technologies used in your browser.
- When this policy says “cookies,” it also includes similar browser storage technologies unless stated otherwise.
3. Essential cookies and storage
- Essential storage is required for Karanite to work. Karanite uses essential storage for: signing in and keeping your session active; remembering your room code during gameplay; remembering your faction or team selection; restoring recent rooms after refresh; saving theme preference; saving your cookie consent preference; maintaining payment checkout flow; protecting the service from abuse; and keeping live rooms synchronised.
- You cannot disable essential storage through Karanite because the service needs it to function.
4. Analytics storage
- Karanite uses self-hosted PostHog analytics only after consent.
- Analytics helps Karanite understand: which pages are used; where hosts get stuck; which features are used; which categories are selected; how room creation performs; and whether product changes improve the experience.
- Karanite’s analytics are self-hosted on Karanite-controlled infrastructure. Karanite does not use PostHog Cloud for product analytics.
- If you reject analytics, PostHog is not initialised, PostHog storage is not set, and analytics events are not sent.
5. Error monitoring
- Karanite uses Sentry for basic error monitoring. Error monitoring helps Karanite detect: broken pages; failed requests; server errors; client-side crashes; checkout or account errors; and room synchronisation bugs.
- Sentry Session Replay is disabled.
- If Karanite ever enables session replay or a similar screen-recording feature, it will be disclosed and consent-gated before use.
6. Payment and checkout storage
- Karanite uses Paddle as Merchant of Record. During checkout, Paddle may set cookies or browser storage needed to: complete payment; prevent fraud; show local currency and taxes; issue invoices; manage checkout security; and handle payment confirmation.
- Checkout storage is treated as essential for completing a purchase.
- Paddle processes payment-related data under its own privacy and cookie notices.
7. No advertising or retargeting
- Karanite does not use: advertising cookies; behavioural advertising; retargeting pixels; Google Analytics; Meta / Facebook Pixel; TikTok Pixel; Vercel Analytics; or third-party ad networks.
- Karanite does not sell or rent cookie-derived data.

10. Changing your choice
- Users can change cookie choices at any time through the Cookie Settings link in the site footer. Clicking it reopens the Cookie & storage preferences modal.
- Your cookie consent preference persists across reloads. Changing it propagates immediately — for example, rejecting analytics after previously accepting means PostHog stops being initialised on subsequent page loads.
11. Consent records
- Karanite keeps a basic consent record for cookie choices, including where technically available: decision made; timestamp; preference state; policy version; browser / local consent value; and account ID if signed in and recorded server-side.
- Cookie consent does not need to be tied to a full user profile unless necessary. Karanite avoids collecting extra data only to prove cookie consent.
12. Relationship with the Privacy Policy
- This Cookie Policy should be read together with the Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what data Karanite collects, why data is processed, legal bases, retention, user rights, vendors and sub-processors, and international transfers.
- Cookie and browser-storage choices only affect browser storage and analytics; they do not disable essential account, room, security, payment, or legal processing.
